Obsessions

Okay, Ann tagged me to post about five of my obsessions. So, here are a few things I am obsessed with or obsessive about. . .

COLORS
I am obsessive about color. I love colors. All of them. I honestly don’t have a favorite color, and believe that every color can be gorgeous when used in just the right place. I do gravitate towards a particular palate of colors that my friends refer to as “Kara colors”. Kara colors include muted jewel tones like those in the color wheel above.

A couple examples of my color obsession: when I eat M&M’s at my desk I always arrange them into graphic patterns using nice color combinations, I will leave books sitting on the edge of my bed for weeks if the cover looks beautiful against my bedspread, sometimes I buy fruit (pears especially) just because they will look great in a white bowl or are the perfect hue of warm-red.

FRUIT
Which brings me to my next obsession, I am obsessive about fruit. My brother-in-law observed this obsession when he married into our family. We are all obsessive about perfect fruit. If there is any question about the quality of an apple, orange or banana I just don’t eat it. There is nothing worse than a grainy apple. No apple is better than a grainy apple. Unfortunately, I think I miss a lot of decent apples for fear that they might be grainy.

DING
I am obsessed with Southwest’s DING program. I have a post-it note on my monitor at work listing the lowest fares for particular cities I am watching. I call/text people to let them know about fares they might be interested in. I have influenced at least 5 people to sign up for the program. At work, my coworkers ask me if there are any good fares during our team meetings. I went to San Diego on a whim because of a $29 fare. (It was totally worth it.) Southwest should pay me for my promotional efforts. If you work for Southwest Marketing, please leave a comment on this post and I will send you the address to which you can send the check. (Free flight vouchers will be an acceptable substitution.)

RED SHOES
I am obsessed with red shoes. One of my first blog entries was dedicated entirely to a particularly lovely pair of red shoes. I currently own 6 pair as follows: 2 pair of heels (one bright, one dark), a pair of sandals, a pair of skimmers, a pair of shiny patent loafers and a pair of red and pink pumas. These are all quite necessary.

ICE

I could not live in a world without ice. When I say I want a glass of water, what I really mean is that I want a glass of ice with some water poured over the top. I like my drinks cold and never fill my glass past the level of the ice. If I'm thirsty and there is no ice in the house I will mope (ask my sister-- who never has ice at her house). Once I'm done complaining, I'll leave a glass of water in the freezer until it's cold or I forget about it, which ever comes first!

Also, whoever invented that soft pebble ice was inspired.
