Neo-Existential Prelude to Doom
This week, Apple announced that they have sold over 100 million iPods. [Way to go Apple.]
To commemorate the iPod's impact on the way we listen to music, NPR played a news piece from 26 years ago, capturing public response to the release of the first personal-music technology-- the walkman.
One man said the walkman tolls a "neo-existential prelude to doom".
Ummm, what?

So...I guess the walkman represents how we are all wandering around in 2007 doomed for our acts of agency...but not knowing if we're doing right or wrong...
yeah, weird.
I would say the ipod could be our road to doom though...everyone is totally addicted to their machine, prancing around and forgetting that there are other people in the room that they could be talking to!
sooo funny.
